Years ago, a friend of mine in Washington state gave me a cassette of a quartet. On the tape was a song titled, "I'm Gonna Live Forever". It was didn't seem very deep lyrically, but the idea stuck in my brain. I realized that I am, in fact, going to live forever.
Where I live has been subject to much debate by the great philosophers and theologians out there. I've come to realize that my destiny doesn't hang on the opinions of others but on an ultimate truth that is beyond me yet within me. Some say we are here by some cataclysmic accident called the "big bang". The premise is we live, we die and we're done. Some say there is life after death but only for a few. The rest just disappear. Yet, another segment says we are here by design and purpose and are eternal beings in the sense that our spirits will live forever in a yet to be determined location.
My focus right now is to see what I can do while in this life. I need to make a difference right now. For you who know me and some who may not, may I let you know that "You're going to live forever."
